Wedding Invitation Assembly

With many different enclosures often accompanying the wedding invitation proper etiquette will explain which order to place each.  When you are assembling remember the order of enclosures begin with inserting the most important to the least important, so the last item your guests’ see is the invitation itself.

  • Begin with inserting the invitation folded edge first (printed side up)  into the inner envelope.
  • Insert the protective tissue over top the invitation.
  • Next, place the response card (printed side facing the back of the outer envelope) lying within the flap of the response envelope (which faces down)
  • Lastly, place any other insertions such as maps, directions, etc. into the envelope in order of size
  • Inner envelope wording should face the back of the outer envelope

Other Wedding Invitation Tips:

  • Choose stamps which complement your wedding invitations.
  • Some guest forget to write their names on response cards, assign each guest a number and write it in pencil on the back of the response card to keep up with who has and who has not responded.
  • ·Don’t forget to place a stamp on the response card envelope.
  • Request that the post office hand cancels each invitation to avoid the unattractive marks often made by machine canceling.
  • Mail the invitations six to eight weeks in advance to ensure adequate time for guests to make arrangements.
