The winter season should not be overlooked when
deciding on the time of year to have your wedding. With a plethora of ideas and themes available this season can be made
into your own “Winter Wonderland” with a few creative tips and tricks.
Color Choices
Two common colors for this time of year are red and green. These can be paired together or used with other complimentary colors. Adding splashes of silver accents throughout your wedding will add some
sparkle to your dream day. If red and green do not suite your tastes consider a beautiful light blue as a color
scheme.
Wedding Dress
To warm up those traditionally strapless and short sleeved gowns, add a fur wrap or even a lace overlay. If you decide to use silver as an accent, don’t forget your wedding
dress! Add a sparkle of silver in the form of painted pearls, crystals, beads or sequins to the trim of your dress
or on your veil; be careful not to overdo it though, you don’t want it to look
too much like a costume.
Favor Ideas
There are many options available for treating your guests during the winter
season. You can try any of the following to spice up traditional favors: mugs with coffee, cocoa, or cider,
snow globes, ornaments, nutcrackers, wreaths, pine cones, candy canes, or
holiday cookies. Take each of these ideas and add a touch of your theme or color scheme to truly personalize the
gifts.
Ceremony and Reception Ideas
Brides should take advantage of the plentiful Christmas lights on every aisle
during the winter season and accent tables, trees and other areas with lights. For those of you, who have a wedding around New Years, celebrate with
fireworks after the reception. During the wedding reception, decoration could include poinsettias, miniature
Christmas trees, candles, crystals, gingerbread houses, fake snow, or even
miniature logs with simulated fire. Ice sculptures are another way to bring the winter feel inside. Some other ideas for décor and centerpieces include: a Christmas village,
Christmas train, snow angels, wreaths, Pine cones,
crystals, and even glitter sprayed for an “icy” feel.
